I was recently asked to network our 2 small
medical centers, as well as allow the MDs to
connect to the centers from dial-up connections
wherever they happen to be. The objective at this
point is just file sharing. One center has DSL
service through a Caymen 3220-H-006 router,
uplinked to a 3Com OfficeConnect 16 port dual
speed switch, which in turn is used for file
sharing and internet access by 5 PCs running
Windows 9x, Windows 2K pro, and Windows XP. The
other center has a cable modem, uplinked to 2
LinkSys 4 port switches, shared by 6 PCs, running
Windows 9x, and Windows XP. We\'re looking for a
quick, inexpensive solution (yeah, sure) and I
thought VPN might work with our existing
equipment. Is this possible? Practical? Thanks! |
