I have a private office LAN (implemented using NAT), where all users are networked together via hubs and switches. All of us are connected to the Internet via a broadband router/modem with a single static IP address.

My boss would like to access her office PC from her home, where she accesses Internet via cable. She's on Win98 on both her office and home PC.

How can help her access her office PC from home? I've asked my friends who told me using VPN is the best way, but they can't tell me how exactly to implement it either. Please help!!!

Max,
Do you have any firewalls or routers in place on your office network currently?
Are you running Win2k, WinXP or WinNT in your office?
Her Win98 computer can't act as a VPN appliance by itself, however it is quite simple to add two inexpensive hardware appliances (one VPN appliance at the office, and one VPN appliance at her home) that can act as VPN endpoints.
If you don't have someone who's comfortable working with Win2k, WinXP or WinNT, I recommend using a hardware VPN appliance to resolve your issue.
Go to our hardware section under companies and take a look at the Netscreen-5XP, SonicWall VPN line, and SnapGear VPN appliances. There are other solutions also, but these are a good start.

cheers,
