I am having a problem setting up a VPN through a
Linksys router.
In a nutshell, this is what
I am attempting to accomplish:
We have a
SQL-server based application that 2 end users need
to be able to access from their desktops that fall
outside the LAN. The server in the LAN has been
set up to allow for remote access
We are
trying to configure the Microsoft VPN solution
using PPTP. The router has been set up to
forward Port 47 and 1723 requests to the server
(in this regard, Port 80 requests are also passed
to this machine, and functions
properly).
When attempting to connect via
the VPN connection using the 'public' IP address,
the connection fails. When I use the 'private' IP
address of the server, the connection works
fine.
According to the Linksys people, my
router is configured properly.
Any
suggestions?
Thanks! |
