clarification ---------- Appreciate any assistance
here. Thanks in
advance. I am helping
a friend with a small
business. We're about to
setup a vpn router so
that he can better access
resources inside his lan
- which has 2
segments. Currently
he's accessing a server
on one segment via port
forwarding on the
existing Bell dsl router.
OK so I'm a bit confused
with the relationship
between port forwarding
and vpn router or server-
if you can port forward,
then why would I need a
vpn router? What's the
complete
relationship? For
instance I have a d-link
624 dsl router at home
that can be setup to port
forward for remote access
- its called virtual
server by dlink. But its
NOT a vpn router. So it
suggests that I can get
at the router and I
assume anything behind it
by this method. So why
would I need a vpn router
as suggested by some? So
if I setup a vpn router,
do I still need to port
forward?
Thanks;TFC |
