interface ---------- Hallo, my boss asked
me about a VPN to
distribute some services,
that now are accessible
only inside the
lan. The boss asked
for something that's new
for me: he wants the we
have to be able to
connect VPN via a Web
Interface and not a
external software
client. Does someone
know: how can I
do? Thanks Alfredo

Have a
look at Watchguards SSL
product
(http://www.watchguar
d.com/products/fb-ssl.asp
). It is a VPN gateway
that functions in two
ways. 1. You install a
VPN client on a users
system for them to
connect to the appliance
or 2. A user can go to a
secured SSL webpage that
is loaded on the
appliance and it will
load a "thin client" for
them to connect to your
network from any
computer. You will be
able to manage directly
from the Watchguard how
much access the user has
and in real time be able
to boot them off if
necessary. The second
method is called "Kiosk"
mode. I had a
demonstartion of the
product and it is quite
good.
There is
also a nice tool for you
as an admin that allows
you to log in using Kiosk
mode and load up remote
desktop. You'll be able
to gain access to any of
your servers or systems
running Remote desktop
from anywhere with an
internet connection. You
can also assign a user
permisions to use remote
desktop to fro them to
log into their own system
or a system with the
resources they will need.
The only draw back with
the kiosk mode is that it
only allows a few people
(if I remember it was a
max of 4) to connect at
the same time. Using the
VPN client (not kiosk
mode) that you install on
a user's system will
allow you to connect as
many users you have a
license for to connect to
the watchguard VPN
appliance.
I hope
this helps. | dmcman Member since: 2006-03-18 05:14:56 | posted: 2006-03-18 05:28:37 Watchguard ---------- Sorry, for some reason
