I want to
make the home computer as
a VPN Server. I am using
Windows 2000 server with
SP2, 56Kbps Dialup
connection. Can i build a
VPN connection with these
arrangements or do i need
to get a DSL or bradband
connection.
Thanks

greatly highten your
internet experience. But
more in line with what
you are looking for, it
really helps out with VPN
in that it's much easier
to get a static IP
address than your usual
dialup. --Just try and
ask AOL for a static IP
:o) Also, with regards
to building a VPN server,
there are much better
products than Win2k.
First of all, Win2k is
very top heavy and quite
unstable out of the box.
Not to bash Windows, it
certinally has it's
place. But after
spending a lot of time on
bugtraq, cert, and
security.microsoft.com,
it simply hasn't proven
that it's worthy to live
as a perimter device.
Unix is generally
a much better way to go.
There are free projects
that do FW adn VPN right
out of the box and have
an excellent hardware
compat. list. Check out
