Integrated VPN/Firewall Solutions for Small Business
----------
I'm in the process of trying to build a security system for a small business consisting of 8 internal users and about 30 outside consultants. The users will need to be able to access files on our private NT network as well as to utilize our new Exchange server.

I've been reading up on the individual components I [think I] need: VPNs, firewalls, malicious activity detectors, virus shields, proxy servers, etc. However, I've seen very little information on *integrated* solutions.

Since this site is geared specifically towards VPNs, perhaps this isn't the best resource for this question. However, I'm trying to figure out
1) which of these devices *can* be combined (i.e. VPN/firewall), 2) whether integration is the best solution for my situation, and 3) which product or products would best suit my needs.

Two other factors to consider:

1) We're a small company. We have a relatively small budget.

2) Although I understand and pick up IT-related concepts fairly well, I'm no expert on security. Any solutions that require extensive product knowledge (such as a Cisco router) prior to implementation are not viable solutions.

I'd greatly appreciate any advice you can give.

SonicWall
----------
I've been getting a ton of recommendations to go with SonicWall. It sounds like it may be my best bet. I'm thinking either the PRO 200 or PRO 300 model will work best for me, but I've yet to narrow it down between those two (mainly because my needs seem to point to the 200 but Sonicwall.com's Analyzer function recommends the 300).

However, now I'm getting recommendations that remote users should be given TELE3 devices for their end because the performance of the SonicWall Windows client is tolerable at best.

Any thoughts on this?

Hi.
we are using a "pro" and about 10 mobile users using the vpn-client-software on their notebooks.

noteboo ks are "new" (pentium800, 256 mb ram) and are really fast.

tele3 has 5 user limit, i think.
i would not the like the idea of needing an extra box of the size of my notebook.

only impact is about 20% loss of line speed due to encryption overhead.

bye.

HP
----------
I would use the Intel/HP Netstructure family. The purchase of the box comes with 50 licenses for VPN client which would allow your remote users to access the host network. Have alot of expierence with Intel in the past and would be happy to assist in any other way.
