Firewall ---------- Hello.
What do you
guys think is the best,
and most cost efficient,
solution for
me?
I've got Cable
network (RoadRunner)
connection via a Motorola
SB4100 modem. I've a
home PC (450 MHZ Pentium
II, 256MB RAM, Windows
ME) and I have configured
it with a software based
firewall. (Tiny Personal
Firewall:
http://www.tinysoftware.c
om/pwall.php) and Virus
checking software from
McAfee.
Things
work fine!
I
configured a VPN
connection, using ME
client software, so I can
get to my office. My
office uses Cisco
equipment. This also
works!
Here are
where the questions come
in!
1. I have a
laptop that I bring home
from work. I would like
to share the broadband
connection, so both my
wife and I can be online
at the same time. But, I
would like to be able to
run my laptop from the
dining room, as well as
my home-office. I have
phonelines in the dining
room. What do you think?
A Router with 10/100
switches and HomePNA 2.0
connection and firewall?
What do you
recommend?
2. I
would like to be able to
control my homePC from
work. I was thinking of
using VPN, but I am not
sure of what I would
exactly need. Do you
know of a Router that
would support VPN, good
firewall, as well as
connectivity
needed?
It would
be nice to filter content
as well, just if kids
were going to a wrong
address.
I know
this is a long order, but
that's why I'm coming to
you! I figure this will
become common place
requirement for most home
users.
Do you have
an inexpensive
solution?
