WatchGuard Announces Mobile User VPN support for XP  (4/17/02)
WatchGuard announced that it's new VPN client will support Windows XP and will include a built-in personal firewall and encrypted VPN configuration files. With its new software-based client using Microsoft's signed drivers to ensure OS compatibility, WatchGuard allows mobile users running Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows ME and Windows 98 operating systems to establish VPN connections with the full line of WatchGuard appliances.


A Business Case for Broadband Site-to-Site VPN  (12/9/04)
Network managers and engineers, the time for broadband site-to-ite Virtual Private Networks (VPN) has arrived. Although Frame Relay has served, and continues to serve, us all very well, the recurring costs associated with Frame Relay continues is expensive compared those with a broadband site-to-site VPN and it doesn't appear that the carriers intend to drop rates anytime soon.

Citrix buys up secure remote access firm  (11/28/04)
Citrix Systems is buying Net6, a privately owned maker of SSL VPN technology, for $50m (£27m) in cash. The acquisition will boost Citrix's stable of secure remote access technology and give the company a foothold in the market for VoIP products. Citrix will add Net6's SSL Access Gateway and Application Gateway and Voice Office Application Suite to its product line. Citrix plans to use the technology to expand the options for customers who wish to connect remotely to network resources, including applications, data and voice applications.


European IP VPN continues to grow, researcher claims  (12/21/04)
WAYNE, N.J. — Despite continuing slumps in the communication sector, the market for IP virtual private network (IP VPN) services in Europe registered substantial growth during 2003 and 2004, according to a new report released by Frost and Sullivan. In a report released Tuesday (Dec. 21), Frost & Sullivan estimates the European IP VPN services market to be worth EUR2.73 billion in 2003. In 2008, it is estimated to be worth EUR8.56 billion.


European managed IP VPN market generated $4.3 bln in 2004  (3/17/05)
Western European managed IP VPN services market grew 23% in 2004, but the hyper-growth phase will end next year, IDC says. The market was worth $4.3 bln in 2004 and will grow to $5.8 bln in 2009, with over 80% of that growth taking place in 2005 and 2006. Total spending by customers on IP VPN services from network service providers is still increasing at a rapid rate, but in 2006 the growth will slow to 8% and in 2007 will decrease further to 3%.

Sales of IP virtual private network (VPN) services bucked unfavourable conditions in the telecoms industry to register substantial growth during 2003 and 2004, market research has found. Despite reduced demand for telecoms services, growing pricing pressures and increasing competition, IP VPN uptake is buoyant, indicating that the market is taking a "significant turn for the better", according to analyst firm Frost & Sullivan.

Remote connectivity with SSL VPN  (3/18/05)
iGATE Global Solutions is happy with its experience of going live with Aventail’s SSL VPN (Secure Socket Layer-Virtual Private Network) solution. Network-based IP virtual private network (VPN) services are among the important growth areas in business networking services, according to In-Stat/MDR. The analyst firm says international sales of network-based IP VPN equipment reached $267m (GBP147m) in 2003.


VSNL and NTT to Launch their Second IP-VPN Service in India  (12/2/04)
Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL) and NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) today announced that they agreed to expand NTT Com's MPLS-based Arcstar Global IP-VPN service in India with its second Point of Presence (POP) in Bangalore by the end of January, 2005.


Western Europe security sector sales record high in Q3  (12/17/04)
Western European customer demand for network security solutions delivered as an appliance continues to increase, as security appliances recorded another period of strong growth in the third quarter, according to market advisory firm IDC's European Quarterly Security Server Appliance Tracker. Around €115m in factory revenue was generated in the region from security appliance sales in the third quarter of 2004 — an increase of 54 per cent over the same period the previous year.
